Files

The Files API matches OpenAI’s. Upload an image once and use its file_id as a reference in image edits or as a video frame or reference.

Endpoint	Description
`POST /v1/files`	Upload (`multipart/form-data`): `file`, `purpose` (`vision` or `user_data`), optional `expires_after[anchor]=created_at` and `expires_after[seconds]` (1 hour to 30 days)
`GET /v1/files`	List files
`GET /v1/files/{file_id}`	Retrieve a file
`GET /v1/files/{file_id}/content`	Download: redirects (`302`) to a signed link
`DELETE /v1/files/{file_id}`	Delete

Only images are accepted for now: PNG, JPEG, WebP or GIF, up to 20 MB.
Files belong to the API key’s project. Other projects get 404 file_not_found.
Images you send inline in a request (data URLs or multipart uploads) are also stored as files and kept for 30 days.
